Summer Berry and Crystallized Ginger Dessert Topping

Of course, just a scattering of fragrant, ripe berries over cake or ice cream is divine. However if you're looking for a simple upgrade, here's one of my favorites.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup summer berries such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries or blackberries in any combination Add to list
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped crystallized ginger Add to list
  • 2 tablespoons Cointreau or other orange-flavored liqueur (optional) Add to list
  • Sugar to taste (depending on how sweet the berries are) Add to list

These ingredients are:

Preparation

Toss all of the ingredients together and spoon over your favorite ice cream.

Notes

You may slice or chop the strawberries if you like. Wash the strawberries before you cut them, and wash any berry right before you are going to use it.
