Frequently asked questions
When will your next schedule of classes be available?
PCC Cooks releases a new schedule four times a year, usually at the beginning of March, July, September and December. Sign up to receive email notifications »
Can I register and pay for a class at my local store?
Store registers are not connected to the PCC Cooks registration system. You may register online 24 hours a day or by phone at 206-545-7112, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., by mail or fax.
I'm having trouble logging in to my account. What should I do?
The best approach would be to go to the "forgot your password?" link and use the email address connected to your account to be sent a temporary login. Use this login within 24 hours to reset your password.
How can I see which classes I am registered for?
Our online registration system does not display your full class list, although it is on our wish list. You receive an email confirmation when you originally register for a class and a reminder email 10 days prior to a class. We would be happy to assist you by phone at 206-545-7112 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
How do I register the day of a class?
For Monday through Friday classes, you can call us before 5 p.m. to register for that evening's class if space is available. For weekend classes, registration closes at midnight the day prior to the class.
Are there any discounts for multiple classes?
No; but we do sometimes have special class offers posted on our facebook page.
If I'm on a waiting list, when will I know if I get into the class?
We call or email the first person on the waiting list as soon as we know a spot has become available. If you have not received a call, then the class is still full.
What is your refund policy if I have to cancel?
We can issue a credit or refund if you cancel your spot at least seven days prior to a class. If we cancel a class, a credit or refund is issued.
How do I give someone a class as a gift?
Two ways: You can register for a specific class online or by phone, and let us know (via phone or email to email@example.com who will be attending. OR, you can purchase a PCC gift card online or at any PCC store and let the recipient choose their class and register by phone.
Can a friend go in my place if I can't attend my class?
Yes! If you are unable to attend, you may offer your spot to a friend or family member. They should indicate in class that the registration is under your name.
If I have any dietary restrictions, can I have the instructor make something special?
See notes at the end of each class description about which classes serve meat, poultry, seafood, dairy or eggs. Instructors diligently test their recipes before presenting them as part of a class and will prepare them as written. However, we aim to accommodate where it is logical; for example, leaving dairy off as a topping for your portion.
Gluten-free classes are designated by the symbol and state "no gluten" at the end of the description. Our teaching classrooms are not gluten-free facilities, but we make an effort to prevent cross-contamination in GF-designated classes. Instructors in non-GF classes may not be able to make changes. It is best to contact us ahead of time if you have questions.
Can I go to a full class hoping that someone will not show up?
Please do not. Unfortunately, we can't know if someone is not going to attend at all or if they are simply running late.
Where should I park?
As a courtesy to shoppers with heavy loads of groceries, please park in spots further from the store entrance. At our Greenlake Aurora store, please find street parking. Our Greenlake Village store has validated underground parking. A staff person would be glad to carry out your groceries if you are shopping after class.
Do we get to eat the food in class? Should I eat first?
You will receive 4 to 5 nice bites of each recipe prepared in class. We recommend eating a light meal or snack before class, as most samples are generally served towards the end of class.
Will I get to help prepare food in class?
We have different types of classes to please all students. If you prefer to be moving about in an active learning environment, look for the symbol next to class descriptions. If you prefer to relax, watch and take notes, look for the class symbol. You will receive a printed copy of the recipes in all classes.
Do I need to bring anything? How should I dress?
For your comfort, you may wish to dress in layers; classroom temperatures fluctuate when ovens and stoves are used. For hands-on classes, feel free to bring an apron and please wear closed-toe shoes.
Can I bring wine or beer to drink in the class?
No. Washington State law strictly regulates alcohol service in classes. See classes with the or symbols where we sample beer or wine.
Can I bring my baby or toddler with me if I don't have child care?
Please do not bring young children to a class unless it is a class designed for them.
My child is mature for her age; can I send her to an adult class?
Children age 16 and older are welcome to attend an adult cooking class. Younger teenagers can be considered if an adult is also attending with them. We offer a wide variety of classes in our PCC Kids Cook program. Please call us at 206-545-7112 for more info.
